Tips for Natural Looking Wedding Photos

Your wedding day will of course be full of heightened emotions, and you will want it all captured perfectly on camera, to create those precious memories. However, with so much at stake, it can be hard to relax and look natural in those crucial few seconds! Here are some tips to help you get the best possible results on the big day.

1. Trust your photographer

Remember that it is your photographer’s job to know when you are looking natural and relaxed, so rather than try to force yourself into a pose you think they want, do whatever feels most comfortable for you. Listen to any advice they offer, but don’t feel like you are trying to pass an exam!

2. Connect!

Of course, weddings are all about connection, on a physical, romantic, and mental level, so photos where you are touching each other will speak volumes. If you are going for a full kiss, close your eyes as you would naturally. The brief second before you make contact can often say more than a full-on smooch!

Shots of an affectionate peck on the cheek, or hand holding, can look just as romantic. If you are putting your arms around friends or relatives, keep them at waist level rather than reaching for shoulders, as this will result in stretched and crumpled clothing.

3. Move around

You will want some shots where you move away from static poses, and moving around can also take you out of yourself and lead your mind to other things. Walk away and then turn and walk at a slow pace back to the photographer, to give them chance to do their thing!

If you are still feeling tense, talk quietly to your spouse about a cheeky secret that only the two of you know about, or if all else fails, talk about what you will be getting up to on the honeymoon!
