Being A Wedding Photographer: 5 Fantastic Years of Love

5 Wonderful Years

I love being a wedding photographer, and I am now celebrating 5 fantastic years, my 5th anniversary! I couldn’t let this moment in my amazing journey pass without pausing to reflect and celebrate the joy I have been lucky enough to be part of. So let me share with you a look back at Catherine Brooks Photography.

Being a wedding photographer isn’t just about taking beautiful photos (although I do love that part too!)—it’s about capturing the love, laughter, and magic that happens when two people promise forever. Over the years, I’ve had the honour of documenting countless love stories, and it still fills me with absolute joy.

Why I Still Love Being a Wedding Photographer

Let’s be honest, being a wedding photographer is a true privilege. I am granted front row seats to some of the most amazing love stories ever told—the real ones, filled with genuine emotion and connection. I am there to witness every raw feeling of the day, from the excitement and nerves leading up to the ceremony, to the pure, unfiltered joy that fills the atmosphere. Each moment is unique and authentic, offering a glimpse into the hearts of those celebrating.

Throughout the day, I have seen happy tears, bursts of laughter, tight hugs, and even a few wild dance-offs. These are the memories that make every wedding truly special. The best part of my role is having the opportunity to transform all of these incredible moments into lasting memories. Through my photographs, I can preserve the essence of each wedding day, allowing couples to relive their joy for years to come. That’s why I love being a professional wedding photographer.

Every Wedding is Unique

Being a wedding photographer, I capture images like this darkly lit silhouette of a bride and groom dancing

Every wedding I photograph is truly one of a kind, mirroring the individuality of each couple who invites me to capture their special day. From rustic countryside celebrations with wildflowers and handmade decorations to chic city ceremonies held in historic venues, the variety of themes, traditions, and personal touches never ceases to amaze me. No two relationships are the same, and I find this reflected in everything—from the choice of music for the first dance to the way each couple exchanges heartfelt vows, sometimes with laughter and sometimes through tears.

This uniqueness is what keeps my job endlessly fascinating; being a wedding photographer, you never know quite what to expect with each booking. One weekend, I might be documenting an intimate elopement atop windswept cliffs, while the next I may be surrounded by hundreds of guests in a grand ballroom, each scenario presenting fresh challenges and moments to capture. It’s this ever-changing landscape of love stories, personalities, and cultures that makes every wedding an exciting new adventure and ensures that no two albums are ever alike.

Candid Moments Make the Best Memories

The most rewarding part of being a wedding photographer is capturing the candid moments—the ones you simply cannot plan. It’s in the glances you share right after the ceremony, the infectious laughter of the flower girl, and the emotional reaction from Nan during your first dance. These fleeting flashes of genuine emotion are what transform wedding photos from a mere collection of images into a heartfelt story.

My photography style is relaxed, natural, and brimming with joy. My aim is for you to look back on your wedding photos and truly relive the emotions of the day—not just see them, but feel them all over again.

So Many Strings To My Bow!

Since founding Catherine Brooks Photography, I’ve had the privilege of capturing love stories as a wedding photographer throughout Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and beyond. Over these five years, I have found myself not just behind the camera but also fixing buttonholes, fetching forgotten bouquets, and even managing crowd control during confetti runs. Whatever is needed to ensure your moments are captured and you remain fully present in your special day, I am there to help.

I truly feel part of each special day, and I am lucky. Over the last 5 years, I have worked with some amazing couples. Every wedding is different, but all share one thing in common: a love story that deserves to be told. Even now, each new wedding excites me just as much as the first, and I am honoured to be part of such meaningful moments.

I Feel Privileged

Being a wedding photographer is an immense privilege, to be entrusted with capturing the essence of one of life’s most cherished moments. That trust is truly precious to me.

I make it a priority to genuinely connect with each couple, taking the time to understand what matters most to them, and ensuring they feel completely at ease in front of the camera. My role extends far beyond simply holding a camera; I am present to support, to gently guide, and to document your love story with honesty and artistry. This deep commitment forms the heart of every wedding photographer’s journey I am honoured to share.
